It is that time again. A successful breeding of BB and Sam on October the 8th means you will once again have the chance to own a "true L-A-B." Please review last year's blog posts for information and pictures about our previous litter featuring BB and Sam's puppies. Also I have updated the Puppies for Sale page to reflect the most current information including links to the parents entries in the OFFA database. Currently is appears that the litter will include a few more puppies than last year, but the details remain to be seen. If you have any questions, you can email me at email@example.com or call 910-863-4478.
Last week, the puppies got their first experience with vehicle travel in a cross-state jaunt totalling about 6 hours. On Saturday, I led them out to our pond, which was a fun experience in of itself, walking four puppies through about 3 or 4 acres of property. I let their mother encourage them to go into the water, and although they did not go swimming as you might expect every four-week old puppy to do, everyone did get wet, and did not seem too unhappy about the deal. Disapointment abounds that I did not get pictures, but I did not have a camera available, and I am not too excited about using one around water anyway. They are not as impervious to water as a Lab is. I was also able to start feeding them puppy food last week.
Every day these little pups get a little more active and a little less little. Their teeth are in, and they should start eating soft food pretty soon. They will also be receiving their first shots this week along with their second round of worming. I hope you enjoy the pictures, and get a little yearning to share in the love, the experiences, and the fun a fine Lab can bring.
The critical period is over, and all the puppies are doing well. They are happy, healthy, and doing what puppies do best- sleeping and growing. Within the next week, they should get their first glimpses of their new world. Currently, the three males are still available. If you wish to make a deposit, please contact us to make arrangments.
The day finally came! BB had a beautiful litter of 4 pups, three males and one female. She is being her normal wonderful self, and the pups are taking life one day at a time. They are about the quietest litter I have seen. The weather is great for having pups, not too cold or too warm. If you are interested in reserving a puppy or viewing the litter, you can do so after the 12th of October. If you haven't done so already, you can view a couple of pictures that I posted on the litter page (go there). Deposit information is also included there.
With about 2 weeks remaining until BB's due date, I thought it would be a good idea to post a couple photos and some comments on how things are coming and going. If you look carefully at BB's photo above, you will notice that possibilities of a litter are "expanding." She is also experiencing an increased apettite. It is at this time that we begin feeding puppy food to provide adequate nutrition. Although I do not do extensive training with her, I still take her out for daily exercise which includes a few retrieves to keep her in good shape. The photo on the right shows her preparing for one such retrieve.
Hi! my name is Caleb, and as the proud owner of Beauty in the Beast SH (Click for pedigree), I am happy to announce that after a year and a half, Ruff House Kennels will hopefully be able to offer another excellent litter of pups in November. The purpose of this blog is to provide updates and inform you as readers and interested parties of the progress of our litter's life-changing events.
The stud for this litter is Ten Mile Sambo MH (Click for pedigree). He is about 8 years old, and weighs approx. 65 lbs. He has proved himself an excellent dog both as a hunter and as a sire, having produced two litters of excellent pups. Sam has all the characteristics of a great Lab including a calm and obedient temperament.
This will be Beauty in the Beast's fourth litter. Her picture is shown at the top of this post. She is also about 65 lbs and is 8 years old, but has the drive of a two year old pup. If I had to use one word to describe her pups, it would be "intelligent." Previous litters have produced a Master Hunter, a couple Junior qualifiers, and many satisfied buyers.
Both parents' hips and elbows are OFA certified excellent, eyes are certified, and BB is EIC clear.
